1. Ensure that the engine is turned off and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Locate the diagnostic connector, which is usually found under the dashboard on the driver's side. It may have a cover that you need to remove.
3. Connect a jumper wire between the TE1 and E1 terminals of the diagnostic connector. These terminals are usually labeled or marked with different colors.
4. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine. Do not crank or start the engine.
5. Leave the ignition key in the "ON" position for at least 15 seconds.
6. Turn the ignition key back to the "OFF" position.
7. Disconnect the jumper wire from the diagnostic connector.
8. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. The check engine light should now be reset.
If the check engine light remains illuminated after following these steps, it's recommended that you have your vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic to identify and address the underlying issue causing the light to turn on.
