The P0441 code on a 1998 Dodge Neon means that the evaporative emissions control system has detected a problem with the purge flow. The purge flow is the process by which fuel vapor is drawn from the charcoal canister and sent into the engine to be burned. The code is a result of the system checking the purge flow and determining that it is either too high or too low. This code is typically caused by one of the following:
- Failed vent solenoid (most common)
- Failed evaporative emissions canister purge valve
- Bad gas cap
- Loose or disconnected hoses/lines
- Faulty purge flow sensor
- Vacuum leak in the system
- Fuel tank pressure sensor is faulty
- Bad computer (PCM)
