Where is the oil filter located 2004 BMW 745?

Oil Filter Location

The oil filter for the 2004 BMW 745 is located on the front of the engine, near the left-hand front corner of the valve cover. It is a cylindrical-shaped housing, with a screw-on cap at one end. The other end is connected to the engine by a hose.

To access the oil filter, you will need to remove the engine cover. This can be done by unfastening the two 10mm bolts at the rear of the cover and then lifting the cover off.

Once the engine cover is removed, you will see the oil filter housing. The housing is held in place by two 13mm bolts. Remove these bolts and the oil filter housing will come loose.

Be careful when removing the oil filter housing, as there will be some residual oil in it. It is a good idea to place a drain pan under the housing before removing it.

Once the oil filter housing is removed, you can replace the old oil filter with a new one. The new oil filter must have the same size and thread pitch as the old one.

To install the new oil filter, simply screw it into the oil filter housing until it is snug. Do not overtighten the oil filter, as this can damage the filter and cause it to leak.

After the new oil filter is installed, you can reinstall the oil filter housing and the engine cover.
