1. Park the car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood.
3. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located on the driver's side of the engine, near the back.
4. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission until it is fully seated.
6. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
7. If the fluid level is low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid. The type of fluid required is specified in the owner's manual.
8. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level again.
9. Close the hood.
