1. Stay calm and don't panic.
2. Ease off the accelerator.
3. Turn the steering wheel in the direction of the skid.
4. Don't brake suddenly, as this can cause you to lose control of the vehicle.
5. Once the skid has stopped, apply the brakes gently to slow down.
Additional tips:
* If your vehicle is equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS), don't pump the brakes. ABS will automatically pump the brakes for you at the optimal rate.
* If you're driving a manual transmission vehicle, downshift to a lower gear to help slow down the vehicle.
* If you're driving in heavy rain or snow, use your low-beam headlights to help improve visibility.
* Increase the following distance between your vehicle and the one ahead.
* Avoid sudden stops or turns.
