* A ratchet
* A breaker bar
* A pry bar
* A hammer
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the serpentine belt.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.
4. Pry the harmonic balancer off of the crankshaft.
Here are the detailed instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent the engine from starting while you are working on it.
2. Remove the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt is the long belt that drives the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor. To remove the serpentine belt, you will need to loosen the tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley is located on the front of the engine, near the top. Once the tensioner pulley is loosened, you can slip the serpentine belt off of the pulleys.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt. The crankshaft pulley bolt is located in the center of the crankshaft pulley. To remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, you will need to use a 19mm socket and a breaker bar.
4. Pry the harmonic balancer off of the crankshaft. Once the crankshaft pulley bolt is removed, you can pry the harmonic balancer off of the crankshaft. To do this, you will need to use a pry bar and a hammer. Be careful not to damage the harmonic balancer or the crankshaft.
Once the harmonic balancer is removed, you can replace it with a new one. To install the new harmonic balancer, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old harmonic balancer.
