According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, in 2021, about 5.6% of light-duty vehicles (which include cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks) sold in the United States were hybrids, while roughly 94.4% were powered by traditional internal combustion engines that rely on unleaded gasoline.
