1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shock or damage to the car's electrical system.
2. Remove the instrument cluster bezel. This is the plastic piece that surrounds the speedometer and other gauges. There are usually a few screws that hold it in place.
3. Remove the speedometer. There are usually four screws that hold the speedometer in place. Once the screws are removed, you can carefully pull the speedometer out of the instrument cluster.
4. Install the new speedometer. Insert the new speedometer into the instrument cluster and secure it with the four screws.
5. Reconnect the battery.
6. Test the speedometer. Turn on the ignition and make sure that the speedometer is working properly.
