1. The battery in the 2004 VW Passat is located in the trunk.
- Open the trunk of the Passat.
- Locate the black plastic cover on the right side of the trunk, about halfway down.
- Remove the cover by pulling it up and off.

- The battery is held in place by a metal bracket.
