1. Open the hood of your Mercedes E-Class.
2. Locate the battery cover on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
3. Remove the battery cover by unscrewing the bolts that hold it in place.
4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal (the black cable) by loosening the bolt that holds it in place.
5. Disconnect the positive battery terminal (the red cable) by loosening the bolt that holds it in place.
6. Remove the battery from the engine compartment by lifting it straight up.
7. Replace the battery with a new one of the same size and type.
8. Reconnect the positive battery terminal by tightening the bolt that holds it in place.
9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal by tightening the bolt that holds it in place.
10. Replace the battery cover by screwing the bolts that hold it in place.
11. Close the hood of your Mercedes E-Class.
