1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
Make sure the vehicle has been parked for a few minutes so the transmission fluid has time to settle.
2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick.
The dipstick is usually located near the back of the engine bay, on the driver's side. It may have a yellow or orange handle.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean.
Use a clean rag or paper towel to wipe off any dirt or fluid from the dipstick.
4. Reinsert the dipstick all the way.
Make sure the dipstick is fully inserted until it touches the bottom of the transmission fluid pan.
5. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level.
The fluid should be between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add more fluid.
6. Add transmission fluid if necessary.
If the fluid level is low, you can add more transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. Use a funnel to add the fluid slowly, and be careful not to overfill the transmission.
7. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level again.
Make sure the fluid level is between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks on the dipstick.
8. Replace the dipstick.
Once you are satisfied with the fluid level, replace the dipstick and close the hood of the vehicle.
*Note: It's important to use the correct type of transmission fluid recommended by your vehicle's manufacturer. You can find this information in your owner's manual.*
