Prepare. Park the vehicle on a flat surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Place the gearshift in the Park position. Engage the parking brake.
Locate Battery. Open the hood. The battery will be in the engine bay, typically on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Disconnect the Negative Terminal. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the nut holding the negative battery terminal cable to the battery. Be cautious when disconnecting this terminal first.
Disconnect the Positive Terminal. Loosen and remove the nut holding the positive battery terminal cable to the battery. Remove the cable from the battery.
Remove the Battery Hold-Down Bracket. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the bolt that secures the battery hold-down bracket. Lift the bracket off the battery.
Lift Battery Out. Carefully lift the battery out of its compartment. Be careful not to spill any battery acid.
Once the battery has been removed, you can replace it with a new one. Be sure to connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal. Replace the battery hold-down bracket and bolt. Close the hood.
