1. Locate the fuse box. The fuse box is located under the dashboard on the driver's side. It is a black plastic box with a clear plastic cover.
2. Open the fuse box cover. To open the fuse box cover, squeeze the tabs on the sides and lift it up.
3. Identify the blown fuse. The blown fuse will be melted or have a broken filament.
4. Remove the blown fuse. Use a pair of needle-nose pliers to grasp the metal part of the fuse and pull it out of the fuse box.
5. Insert a new fuse. Insert a new fuse of the same amperage as the blown fuse into the fuse box.
6. Close the fuse box cover. Snap the fuse box cover back into place.
Here are some additional tips for replacing fuses on a 1991 Volvo 240:
* Always use fuses of the correct amperage. Using a fuse that is too high of an amperage can cause damage to the electrical system.
* If a fuse blows repeatedly, there may be a problem with the electrical system. Have the electrical system checked by a qualified mechanic.
* Keep a spare set of fuses in the car in case one blows.
