1. Preparation:
- Gather the necessary tools and materials, including a new exhaust bellow kit, drive shaft bellow, and a pair of bellow clamps.
- Ensure the boat is out of the water and properly secured on a trailer or lift.
- Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical incidents during the process.
2. Removing the Exhaust Bellow:
- Locate the exhaust bellow on the transom shield, where the exhaust hose connects to the exhaust manifold.
- Loosen and remove the clamps securing the exhaust bellow to the transom shield and exhaust hose.
- Carefully slide the exhaust bellow off the exhaust hose.
3. Removing the Drive Shaft Bellow:
- Locate the drive shaft bellow near the gimbal housing.
- Loosen and remove the clamps securing the bellow to the gimbal housing and the drive shaft.
- Carefully slide the drive shaft bellow off the drive shaft.
4. Inspecting the Bellows:
- Inspect the old exhaust bellow and drive shaft bellow for cracks, tears, or other signs of damage or deterioration.
- If necessary, replace the old bellows with the new ones.
5. Installing the New Bellows:
- Slide the new drive shaft bellow onto the drive shaft and secure it with the clamps.
- Slide the new exhaust bellow onto the exhaust hose and secure it with the clamps.
- Ensure the bellows are securely fastened to prevent leaks.
6. Reconnecting Battery and Testing for Leaks:
- Reconnect the battery.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for any leaks around the exhaust and drive shaft bellows.
- If you notice any leaks, tighten the clamps or replace the bellows as needed.
7. Reinstall the Outdrive (optional):
- If you removed the outdrive during the process, reinstall it following the manufacturer's recommended procedures.
8. Final Checks:
- Ensure all bolts, nuts, and clamps are properly tightened.
- Check the alignment between the outdrive and the gimbal housing.
9. Boat Testing:
- After completing the Bellow Replacement, take the boat out for a test ride.
- Verify that the exhaust and drive shaft bellows are secure, and there are no leaks or operational issues.
