1. Gather your materials.
- You will need:
- New oil filter (Yamaha part number 13A-13440-00-00)
- New oil (3.0 liters of 10W-40 motor oil)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rag
2. Warm up the engine. This will help the oil drain more easily.
3. Locate the oil drain plug. It is located on the bottom of the engine, near the front.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.
5. Loosen the drain plug. Use the wrench to loosen the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the pan.
6. Allow the oil to drain. Let all of the oil drain out of the engine. This may take a few minutes.
7. Replace the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug with the wrench.
8. Move to oil filter
9. Locate the oil filter. It is located near the top of the engine, on the left side.
10. Remove the oil filter. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter.
11. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.

Install the new oil filter. Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
13. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine.
14. Check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
15. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
16. Check for leaks. Look under the bike for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
