Can you refuel your car with engine running?

It is highly unsafe and strongly discouraged to refuel your car with the engine running. Here's why:

* Fire hazard: Fuel vapors are highly flammable. If you are refueling with the engine running, there is a high risk of a spark from the engine igniting the fuel vapors, leading to a fire.

* Fuel spill: The engine vibrations can cause fuel to slosh around in the tank, potentially leading to a spill.

* Carbon monoxide poisoning: Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas that can be deadly. Running the engine while refueling increases the risk of inhaling carbon monoxide.

* Damage to the fuel system: Running the engine can create pressure in the fuel tank, which could damage the fuel lines or other components.

Always turn off your engine and remove the key before refueling your car. It's a simple precaution that can prevent serious accidents.
