Just had engine rebuild on Yamaha banshee new ignition coil cdi box mechanic can still not get it to fire any suggestions?

I understand your frustration! A Banshee that won't fire after a rebuild can be a real head-scratcher. Here's a breakdown of things to check, starting from the basics and moving to more complex areas:

Basics:

* Spark Plugs: Double-check the spark plugs are the correct type for your Banshee (NGK BR8ES) and properly gapped at 0.028". Are they brand new?

* Spark: Make sure you're getting spark. Remove a plug wire, hold it near the engine block, and ground the end. You should see a blue spark when you kick or crank the engine.

* Fuel Delivery:

* Fuel Lines: Check if the fuel lines are kinked or blocked.

* Fuel Filter: Make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged.

* Fuel Pump: If you have an electric fuel pump, ensure it's working. On older Banshees with a mechanical pump, make sure it's properly connected and primed.

* Air Intake:

* Air Filter: Clean or replace the air filter.

* Airbox: Make sure the airbox is connected and not restricted.

Ignition System:

* Timing: Double-check the timing was set correctly during the rebuild. Refer to your service manual for the proper timing marks.

* Ignition Coil: You mentioned a new coil, but ensure it's correctly wired and the connections are tight.

* CDI Box: A faulty CDI box can prevent spark. While you have a new one, make sure it's compatible with your Banshee and is wired correctly.

* Kill Switch: The kill switch can sometimes be the culprit. Make sure it's in the "run" position and not stuck.

* Wiring: Inspect all wiring for loose connections, shorts, or broken wires. Make sure the wiring to the CDI box, ignition coil, and kill switch is intact.

Other Possibilities:

* Valve Timing: Ensure the valves were timed correctly during the rebuild. Improper valve timing will prevent the engine from running.

* Compression: Check the compression of the engine. Low compression can prevent the engine from starting.

* Carb Issues: If you have carb issues, like a clogged jet or a stuck float, it can prevent the engine from getting fuel.

Troubleshooting Tips:

* Start with the basics: Always begin with the simplest things, like checking the spark plugs and fuel.

* Use a multimeter: Use a multimeter to check for continuity in the wiring and to test the CDI box and coil.

* Consult a service manual: A service manual will provide you with detailed instructions on how to diagnose and repair your Banshee.

* Seek professional help: If you're still unable to get your Banshee to fire, it's best to take it to a qualified mechanic.

Important Note: Always be careful when working on your Banshee. Disconnect the battery before working on any electrical components and be aware of potential hazards.

Good luck! I hope this helps get your Banshee back up and running.
