What is a LRA in compressor?

In the context of compressors, LRA stands for Linear Reciprocating Actuator. It's not a standard component found in every compressor type, but rather a specific type of actuator used in some compressor designs, particularly those requiring precise and controlled movement.

Unlike rotary or centrifugal compressors, which use rotating elements, an LRA uses a linear motion to compress the gas. This linear motion is often achieved by a motor driving a piston or similar mechanism in a back-and-forth fashion within a cylinder. This design offers advantages in certain applications needing precise control over the compression process and/or very high pressures.

Therefore, you won't find "LRA" as a common compressor *type*, but rather as a description of a particular *component* within a specialized compressor design.
