1. Open the hood: Locate the hood release lever (usually inside the car, near the steering column or under the dashboard). Pull the lever to release the hood latch. Then, lift the hood and prop it open with the hood prop rod.
2. Locate the fuse box: The underhood fuse box is usually located near the battery, often on the driver's side (left side in North America). It's typically a black plastic box with a cover. Look for a label that says "fuse box" or "power distribution center."
3. Open the fuse box cover: This is where it varies slightly. Some PT Cruisers have a simple hinged cover that lifts open. Others may have a latch or a clip that needs to be pressed or pulled to release the cover. Look closely at the cover for any latches, clips, or hinges. You may need to use a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool to gently pry it open if it's stuck, but be careful not to damage the box.
If you are having trouble locating the fuse box or opening it, consult your PT Cruiser's owner's manual. It will have a diagram showing the location of the fuse box and instructions on how to access it. You can usually find a downloadable version online if you don't have the physical manual.
