The oil pressure sending unit on a 1997 Ford Thunderbird 4.6L V8 is located on the driver's side (left) of the engine block, near the oil filter. It's a relatively small unit with one or two wires connected to it. You'll likely need to look closely, possibly using a flashlight, to spot it amongst other components in that area.
