* Inside the car, near the steering wheel/dashboard: Look to the left of the steering column, near your left knee, or lower down on the dashboard itself. There should be a small lever or button. Sometimes it's hidden behind a small panel. It might be labeled with a bonnet/hood symbol.
* Inside the driver's side door: Less common in modern cars, but some models still have it here. It would typically be located near the lower edge of the dash on the driver's side door.
Once you locate the lever or button:
1. Pull or press the lever/button: This will release the bonnet catch.
2. Go to the front of the car: Locate the bonnet release lever at the front of the car. This is usually a small lever or catch under the front edge of the bonnet, near the Ford logo or the grille.
3. Lift the bonnet: Gently lift the bonnet upwards. You may need to lift it a few inches before it releases completely. There might be a supporting strut to hold the bonnet open; otherwise, you may need to prop it open yourself carefully.
If you can't find the release lever, consult your owner's manual. It will have a diagram showing the exact location. You can often find a digital version of your manual online through the Ford website by entering your vehicle's VIN number.
