What other engine is a direct swap with the 2.5 liter on 2000 jeep wrangler?

There isn't a truly direct "bolt-in" swap for the 2.5L in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ. The 2.5L is relatively unique in its application in that generation. While some engine swaps *might* seem similar due to shared bolt patterns on the transmission, you'll almost certainly encounter significant hurdles with things like:

* Engine Mounts: Even if the transmission bolts up, the engine mounts will likely be entirely different.

* Wiring Harness: The wiring harness for the 2.5L is specifically designed for it; no other engine's harness will simply plug in. Extensive rewiring is necessary.

* Computer/ECU: The computer controlling the 2.5L won't be compatible with any other engine. You'll need a compatible ECU and potentially a stand-alone engine management system.

* Exhaust System: Exhaust manifolds and piping will almost certainly need to be custom fabricated or sourced from aftermarket suppliers.

While some people have attempted swaps with similar-sized engines, it's a significant undertaking requiring extensive mechanical knowledge and fabrication skills. It's far from a simple "swap". It's generally more practical and less expensive to rebuild or replace the existing 2.5L than attempt a different engine swap.
