What does a brake booster do?
A brake booster, also known as a vacuum booster or power brake booster, is a device that assists the driver in applying the brakes. It reduces the amount of force the driver needs to exert on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. It does this by using engine vacuum to multiply the force applied to the master cylinder, thus significantly increasing braking power. Without a booster, braking would require significantly more effort, especially in larger or heavier vehicles.
