Will a bad camshaft sensor cut off Chevy Impala 2006 ls?

A faulty camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor) in a 2006 Chevy Impala LS can definitely cause the engine to cut off, or at least misfire severely and stall. It's a crucial sensor for the engine's timing, and without accurate information from it, the engine computer (PCM) can't properly control fuel injection and ignition timing. This will lead to rough running, stalling, and potentially a no-start condition. While other issues *could* cause similar symptoms, a bad CMP sensor is high on the list of suspects.
