A 1998 Ford Explorer 2-door (non-4x4 Sport) used either a 4.0L Cologne V6 or a 5.0L Windsor V8 engine.
Both of these engines are OHV (overhead valve). There were no SOHC (single overhead cam) engines in that model year for that vehicle.
So you don't need to check for SOHC vs. OHV; it's definitively OHV.
