On a head gasket for gm 2.8 which side up?

GM 2.8L engine head gaskets typically have markings or embossed numbers/letters to indicate the correct orientation. There's no single universal "top" or "bottom" without checking the gasket itself.

You MUST consult a repair manual or the gasket packaging. The manual will have diagrams showing the correct installation and often will have identifying marks on the gasket in the image. The packaging *may* also have an arrow or other marking to indicate the correct way up.

Installing the head gasket upside down can lead to catastrophic engine failure. Don't risk it – find the appropriate documentation.
