On a 1984 Nissan 300zx does the fuel pump turn on with key or is it engine controlled 300zx?

On a 1984 Nissan 300ZX, the fuel pump is key-controlled. It primes when the ignition key is turned to the "on" position (before cranking the engine). It doesn't rely on the engine's computer to activate it.
