What does an engine code P0320 mean?

P0320 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates a problem with the Knock Sensor Circuit 1. This means the engine's computer (ECU) has detected a malfunction in the circuit related to the knock sensor on bank 1 of the engine (Bank 1 usually refers to the side of the engine that contains cylinder #1; consult your vehicle's repair manual for specifics).

The knock sensor itself detects abnormal combustion noises (knocking or pinging) caused by detonation. This code signifies a problem with the sensor itself, its wiring, or the connection to the ECU.
