1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent the engine from starting while you are working on the power steering pump.
2. Remove the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt drives the power steering pump, so you will need to remove it before you can remove the pump. To do this, loosen the tensioner pulley and then slide the belt off of the pulleys.
3. Disconnect the power steering hoses. There are two power steering hoses that connect the pump to the steering gear. To disconnect these hoses, use a wrench to loosen the hose clamps and then pull the hoses off of the fittings.
4. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts. There are three bolts that hold the power steering pump in place. To remove these bolts, use a wrench to turn them counterclockwise until they are completely removed.
5. Remove the power steering pump. Once the bolts are removed, you can lift the power steering pump out of the engine compartment.
6. Install the new power steering pump. To install the new pump, simply reverse the steps that you followed to remove the old pump.
7. Reconnect the battery. Once the pump is installed, reconnect the battery and start the engine. Check for leaks and make sure that the power steering system is working properly.
