Preparation:
1. Park your vehicle in a safe and level area, turn off the engine, and allow it to cool down completely.
2. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical hazards.
3. Remove any components or panels that obstruct access to the heater core, such as the dashboard trim or the glove compartment.
Draining the Coolant:
4. Locate the radiator drain plug and place a drain pan below it.
5. Open the radiator drain plug and allow the coolant to drain into the drain pan.
6. Once the coolant has drained, close the drain plug securely.
Accessing the Heater Core:
7. Locate the heater core box, which is usually situated behind the dashboard or under the passenger seat.
8. Remove any brackets, screws, or clamps that secure the heater core in place.
9. Carefully detach the heater hoses connected to the heater core. Make sure to label them for easy reinstallation.
10. Remove the old heater core from the heater core box.
Installing the New Heater Core:
11. Inspect the new heater core to ensure it is compatible with your vehicle.
12. Insert the new heater core into the heater core box, making sure it is properly seated and aligned.
13. Reattach the heater hoses to the new heater core and secure them tightly.
14. Remount the heater core box and reinstall any brackets or screws that you removed earlier.
Refilling the Coolant:
15. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
16. Slowly pour the recommended amount of coolant into the radiator or the coolant reservoir.
17. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the coolant.
18. Check for any leaks or drips from the heater hoses or the radiator.
Testing the Heater Core:
19. Turn on the heater and adjust the temperature to the maximum setting.
20. Feel the air coming out of the vents. The air should be warm and consistent.
