1. Gather Tools and Materials:
- New radiator
- Radiator cap
- Replacement coolant (check owner's manual for specific type and amount)
- Funnel
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Socket wrench set
- Pliers
- Safety goggles
- Gloves
2. Prepare the Car:
- Allow the engine to cool down completely.
- Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
- Open the hood of the Mustang.
3. Drain the Coolant:
- Locate the radiator drain plug on the bottom of the radiator.
- Place a drain pan under the plug.
- Use the flathead screwdriver to loosen and remove the drain plug.
- Allow the coolant to drain completely.
4. Disconnect Hoses:
- Use a wrench to loosen and disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses. Make sure to place a pan underneath to catch any coolant.
5. Remove Old Radiator:
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws or bolts securing the radiator to the upper radiator brackets.
- Loosen the nuts connecting the radiator to the lower brackets.
- Carefully lift the radiator out of the engine bay.
6. Install New Radiator:
- Position the new radiator into place and align it with the upper brackets.
- Insert the screws or bolts into the brackets and tighten them securely.
- Attach the lower brackets to the radiator with the nuts and tighten them.
7. Reconnect Hoses:
- Reinstall the upper and lower radiator hoses and secure them with hose clamps.
8. Refill Coolant:
- Use the funnel to add the recommended amount of new coolant to the radiator.
- Make sure not to overfill the radiator beyond the indicated level.
9. Replace Radiator Cap:
- Install the new radiator cap and tighten it securely.
10. Start the Engine:
- Start the car and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for any leaks around the radiator and hoses.
- If necessary, tighten any loose connections.
11. Check Coolant Level:
- Once the engine has cooled down, recheck the coolant level and top off if needed.
12. Dispose of Old Coolant:
- Properly dispose of the old coolant according to local regulations.
