1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Disconnect the vacuum advance line from the carburetor.
3. Locate the timing mark on the harmonic balancer. It is usually a small notch or line.
4. Locate the timing pointer on the engine block. It is usually a small metal tab with a mark on it.
5. Rotate the engine until the timing mark on the harmonic balancer aligns with the timing pointer.
6. Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and turn the distributor until the points just begin to open.
7. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
8. Reconnect the vacuum advance line to the carburetor.
Your engine is now timed.
