How do you change the fuel filter on a 1998 Jimmy?

1. Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter is located under the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines attached to it.

2. Relieve the fuel pressure. Before you disconnect the fuel lines, you need to relieve the fuel pressure in the system. To do this, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (but do not start the engine). Then, press and hold the Schrader valve on the fuel injector rail for a few seconds. You should hear a hissing sound as the fuel pressure is released.

3. Disconnect the fuel lines. Once the fuel pressure has been relieved, you can disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel line nuts, and then pull the fuel lines off of the filter.

4. Remove the fuel filter. Once the fuel lines have been disconnected, you can remove the fuel filter. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel filter mounting bracket, and then pull the filter out of the bracket.

5. Install the new fuel filter. Insert the new fuel filter into the bracket, and then tighten the mounting bracket. Make sure that the filter is installed in the correct direction (the arrow on the filter should point toward the engine).

6. Reconnect the fuel lines. Attach the fuel lines to the new fuel filter, and then tighten the fuel line nuts.

7. Start the engine. Once the fuel lines have been reconnected, you can start the engine. Check for any leaks around the fuel filter. If you see any leaks, tighten the fuel line nuts until the leaks stop.
