- Spark plug socket (or deep well socket that fits the spark plugs)
- Spark plug wrench
- New spark plugs
- Gap tool (optional)
Instructions:
1. Locate the spark plugs. They are located on the top of the cylinder head, and are accessed through the spark plug wires.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wires. Use the spark plug wrench to loosen the wires and remove them. Be careful not to drop the nuts or bolts that hold the wires on.
3. Check the spark plugs. Inspect the old spark plugs for any damage or wear. Look for any cracks or deposits on the porcelain insulator, and measure the gap between the electrodes. If the gap is too wide or too narrow, the spark plugs will not fire properly and should be replaced.
4. Gap the spark plugs (if necessary) Use a gap tool to adjust the gap between the electrodes to the correct specification. This specification can be found in your owner's manual or on the spark plug packaging.
5. Install the spark plugs. Screw in the spark plugs by hand until they are snug, then tighten them with the spark plug wrench. Be careful not to over-tighten the spark plugs, as this can damage the threads.
6. Reconnect the spark plug wires. Make sure that the wires are properly connected to the spark plugs and that the nuts or bolts are tightened securely.
7. Start the engine. Verify that the engine is running properly.
