Gather your tools and materials.
You will need:
- A new intake manifold gasket
- A gasket scraper
- A set of wrenches
- A socket set
- A screwdriver
- Pliers
- Coolant
- RTV sealant
Prepare the engine.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the coolant from the radiator.
- Remove the air cleaner housing.
- Remove the upper radiator hose.
Remove the intake manifold.
- Loosen the bolts that hold the intake manifold to the cylinder heads.
- Carefully remove the intake manifold, taking care not to drop it.
- Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder heads and the intake manifold with a gasket scraper.
Install the new intake manifold gasket.
- Apply a thin bead of RTV sealant to the mating surfaces of the cylinder heads and the intake manifold.
- Position the new intake manifold gasket in place.
- Carefully lower the intake manifold into place, making sure that the gasket is seated properly.
- Tighten the bolts that hold the intake manifold in place.
Reconnect the components.
- Reconnect the upper radiator hose.
- Fill the radiator with coolant.
- Reconnect the battery cable.
Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for leaks around the intake manifold gasket.
- If you see any leaks, tighten the bolts that hold the intake manifold in place.
