Prepare the necessary materials:
- Auto transmission fluid (as specified in the owner's manual, usually a specific type of ATF)
- Funnel
- Hex key or allen wrench (usually 5mm)
Locate the transmission fluid reservoir:
- Remove the plastic cover between the transmission and the engine.
- The transmission fluid reservoir is located near the top of the transmission, usually with a labeled cap or a dipstick.
Check the fluid level:
- Use the dipstick provided in the reservoir to check the current transmission fluid level.
- The fluid level should be between the marked "MIN" and "MAX" indicators on the dipstick.
Add transmission fluid:
- If the fluid level is low, use the funnel to add the recommended transmission fluid.
- Be careful not to overfill the reservoir.
Replace the dipstick and cap:
- After adding the required amount of fluid, reinstall the dipstick and the reservoir cap securely.
Turn on the engine and shift gears:
- Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
- Shift through all gears (including reverse) to circulate the fluid.
- Check the fluid level again to make sure it's within the specified range.
Road test:
- Take the car for a short drive to check the transmission shifting and performance.
- Be attentive to any unusual noises or behaviors related to the transmission.
