1. Open the hood: Release the hood latch from inside the car or by pulling the release lever in the engine compartment. Lift the hood and secure it with the support rod.
2. Locate the headlight assembly: The headlight assembly is situated behind the plastic cover on the driver's side of the engine bay.
3. Remove the plastic cover: Locate the plastic cover over the headlight assembly. It is usually secured by plastic clips or screws. Gently pry open the clips or remove the screws to release the cover.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector: Once the plastic cover is removed, you will see the headlight assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the headlight assembly by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector straight out.
5. Remove the retaining screws: There are usually three retaining screws holding the headlight assembly in place. Use a suitable wrench or screwdriver to loosen and remove these screws.
6. Remove the old headlight assembly: Once the retaining screws are removed, you should be able to gently pull the headlight assembly out of its housing. Be careful not to drop it.
7. Install the new headlight assembly: Align the new headlight assembly with its housing and gently slide it into place. Make sure that the mounting tabs on the headlight assembly fit into the corresponding slots in the housing.
8. Secure the headlight assembly: Insert and tighten the retaining screws to secure the new headlight assembly in place.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector: Connect the electrical connector to the back of the new headlight assembly by aligning the connector and pushing it in until you hear a click.
10. Replace the plastic cover: Secure the plastic cover back over the headlight assembly by snapping the clips into place or tightening the screws if applicable.
11. Close the hood: Lower the hood and release the support rod. Close and secure the hood latch.
Test the new headlight to make sure that it is working properly. If everything looks good, you have successfully replaced the driver's side headlight on your Fiat Stilo.
