- To access the oil filter:
- Make sure the engine is off.
- Locate the oil filter by following the oil line from the top of the engine to the base.
- Once you've found the oil filter, place an oil drain pan beneath it.
- Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter.
- Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter before screwing it into place.
- Hand-tighten the oil filter until it's snug, then give it an additional 1/2 turn with the oil filter wrench.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
Remember to dispose of the old oil filter and oil properly.
