How do you get the front brake drum off a 1963 Volkswagen beetle?

To remove the front brake drum on a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle:

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels, but do not remove them.

3. Support the vehicle with jack stands, one under each front suspension arm, and then remove the wheels.

4. Remove the cotter pin from the brake drum spindle nut and then remove the nut.

5. Use a brake drum puller to remove the brake drum from the wheel hub.

If you do not have a brake drum puller, you can use two large screwdrivers to pry the brake drum off the wheel hub. Be careful not to damage the brake drum or the wheel hub.
