1. Park the motorcycle upright and turn the engine off.
2. Locate the oil drain plug. On the XJ750, it is located at the bottom of the engine, just to the left of the sump.
3. Place an oil drain pan beneath the drain plug.
4. Using the appropriate size wrench or socket, loosen and remove the drain plug.
5. Allow the old oil to drain into the oil pan.
6. Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
7. Locate the oil filter. On the XJ750, it is located near the top-left corner of the engine, just behind the front cylinder head.
8. Remove the oil filter. You may have to use an oil filter wrench to loosen it.
9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
10. Install the new oil filter and tighten it securely by hand. Do not overtighten.
11. Remove the oil filler plug, which is located near the top-left corner of the engine, just to the left of the oil filter.
12. Using a funnel, add the recommended amount of new oil to the engine. For the XJ750, the oil capacity is 3.7 quarts.
13. Replace the oil filler plug.
14. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
15. Check the oil level and add more oil if necessary.
- The oil filter on the XJ750 is located on top of the engine behind front cylinder, just underneath the seat on the left front of the bike.
Here are some additional tips and information:
- Be sure to use the correct type of oil for your motorcycle. The XJ750 requires a 10W-40 oil.
-Be sure to dispose of the old oil properly.
- You can also remove the filter and clean it instead of changing it. Be sure to use a filter cleaning kit and dry the filter thoroughly before re-installing.
