1. Gather your tools and materials:
- New oil filter (Yamaha part number 5XW-13440-00-00)
- New O-ring for oil drain bolt (Yamaha part number 90430-08016-00)
- 17mm wrench
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- New oil (use a high-quality 4-stroke ATV oil, such as Yamaha Yamalube 4)
2. Prepare your ATV:
- Run the ATV for a few minutes to warm up the oil.
- Park the ATV on a level surface.
- Turn off the ATV and let it cool down for a few minutes.
- Place the oil drain pan under the ATV.
3. Drain the old oil:
- Use the 17mm wrench to loosen the oil drain bolt.
- Allow the oil to drain completely.
- Replace the oil drain bolt and tighten it securely.
4. Replace the oil filter:
- Remove the oil filter using the 17mm wrench.
- Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
- Screw the new oil filter into place until it is snug.
5. Refill the oil.
- Remove the oil fill plug.
- Insert the funnel into the fill hole.
- Add the recommended amount of oil, 1.9 Litres (or 0.51 US gal)..
- Check the oil level using the oil check dipstick. The oil level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
6. Start the ATV and let it run for a few minutes.
7. Check the oil level again and add more oil if necessary.
8. Replace the oil fill plug.
