1. Gather the materials you will need.
- Yamaha 2004 350 Bruin: Engine oil filter (Yamaha part number 134-1134B), new crush washer (Yamaha part number 90201-315-018), 1.9 quarts of SAE 10W-40 motor oil, oil drain pan, funnel, screwdriver, wrench, and safety goggles.
2. Prepare the ATV.
- Place the ATV on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
3. Remove the oil drain plug.
- Locate the oil drain plug at the bottom of the engine.
- Place the oil drain pan under the plug.
- Use a wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug.
- Allow the oil to drain completely.
- Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
4. Remove the oil filter.
- Locate the oil filter on top of the engine.
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the oil filter.
- Remove the oil filter and discard it.
5. Install the new oil filter.
- Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
- Screw on the new oil filter hand-tight.
- Tighten the oil filter with a wrench until it is snug.
6. Add new oil to the engine.
- Use a funnel to add 1.9 quarts of new SAE 10W-40 motor oil to the engine.
- Check the oil level using the oil dipstick.
- Add more oil if necessary until the oil level is between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
7. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
8. Recheck the oil level.
- Run the engine for a few minutes and then check the oil level again.
- Add more oil if necessary until the oil level is between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
