1. Park your snowmobile on level ground and shut off the engine. Allow it to cool down for a few minutes.
2. Prepare your tools and materials: new oil (follow the manufacturer’s recommendations), a new oil filter (if needed), an oil drain pan, funnel, rags, and a wrench.
3. Locate the oil drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the engine. Place the oil drain pan underneath the drain plug.
4. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the old oil to drain into the pan. Be careful not to spill oil.
5. While the old oil is draining, replace the oil filter if necessary. To do this, remove the old filter by turning it counterclockwise. Apply a thin film of new oil to the gasket of the new filter before screwing it into place. Tighten it by hand until it is snug, then use the wrench to tighten it slightly more.
6. Reinstall the oil drain plug once all of the old oil has drained.
7. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Refill it to the recommended level, checking the dipstick to make sure it is full.
8. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil. Check for any leaks.
9. Turn off the engine and check the oil level again. Add more oil if necessary to bring it to the recommended level.
That’s it! You have now successfully changed the oil on your Legend Ski-Doo 800.
