1. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the oil.
2. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes to allow the oil to settle back into the oil pan
3. Remove the oil filler cap (usually located on the right side of the engine, just below the seat).
4. Insert the dipstick into the oil filler hole and remove it again immediately.
5. Check the oil level on the dipstick. For most bikes oil level should land within two indents or hash marks found towards the lower half of the dipstick
NOTE: If the oil level is below the lower mark, add enough oil to bring it up to the correct level. Do not overfill, as this can cause engine damage.
