1. Make sure the engine is cool to the touch.
2. Park the ATV on a level surface and turn off the engine.
3. Set the parking brake.
4. Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the engine.
5. Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug.
6. Remove the oil drain plug.
7. Allow the oil to drain completely into the drain pan.
8. While the oil is draining, locate the oil filter.
9. The oil filter is located on the front side of the engine, near the top.
10. Remove the oil filter by turning it counterclockwise.
11. Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the new oil filter gasket.
12. Thread the new oil filter into place, turning it clockwise until it is snug.
13. Reinstall the oil drain plug.
14. Refill the engine with the recommended amount of new engine oil.
15. Check the oil level to ensure that it is full.
16. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
17. Check for leaks around the oil drain plug and oil filter.
18. Turn off the engine and let it sit for a few minutes.
19. Re-check the oil level to ensure that it is still full.
