- TRX 450 Honda oil filter wrench
- 17mm socket wrench
- Funnel
- Oil drain pan
- New oil filter (Honda part number 15410-HM5-A01)
- New oil (0.95 US quarts or 0.9 liter, 10W-40)
2. Warm up the engine.
- Run the engine for a few minutes to bring it to operating temperature.
- This will help to thin the oil and make it easier to drain.
3. Turn off the engine and let it cool for a few minutes.
- This will help to prevent you from burning yourself when you drain the oil.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
- The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the engine, on the right side.
5. Loosen the oil drain plug with the 17mm socket wrench.
- Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil drain pan.
6. Allow the oil to drain completely.
- This may take a few minutes.
7. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
8. Remove the oil filter.
- The oil filter is located on the right side of the engine, just above the oil drain plug.
- Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter.
- Be careful not to spill any oil.
9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
- This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
10. Screw on the new oil filter until it is snug.
- Do not overtighten the oil filter.
11. Add new oil to the engine.
- Use the funnel to add oil to the engine.
- Add 0.95 US quarts or 0.9 liters of oil.
12. Check the oil level.
- The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
14. Check for leaks.
- Look under the ATV for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
That's it! You have now successfully changed the oil in your TRX 450 Honda.
