1. Gather the necessary materials:
- New oil (check your owner's manual for the recommended oil type and amount)
- Oil filter (if equipped)
- Oil pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
2. Prepare the ATV:
- Park the ATV on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Place the oil pan beneath the ATV to catch the old oil.
3. Drain the old oil:
- Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the engine.
- Place the oil pan under the drain plug.
- Use the wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug.
- Allow the old oil to drain completely into the oil pan.
4. Replace the drain plug:
- Once the oil has drained completely, replace the drain plug.
- Tighten the drain plug securely to prevent leaks.
5. Add new oil:
- Use the funnel to add new oil to the ATV.
- Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
- Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
6. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes:
- Start the ATV and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
7. Recheck the oil level:
- Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle.
- Check the oil level again using the dipstick.
- If the oil level is low, add a small amount of oil.
8. Dispose of the old oil and filter properly.
9. Reinstall the oil filler cap and dipstick.
10. Lower the ATV off of the jack stands.
