To replace the stop lamp sensor on a 1993 Volvo 940, follow these steps:

Park the vehicle on a flat surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.

Locate the switch. It is located on the floor, behind the accelerator pedal.

Pull the switch up to disconnect the wire harness and to remove the sensor from the bracket assembly.

Pull out the switch to remove it.

To replace the sensor, insert it into the bracket and push in the tab on the side of the sensor to lock it onto the bracket.

Connect the wire harness to the sensor.

Press down on the switch until it clicks into place.

Test the sensor by pressing on the brake pedal. The brake lights should illuminate.
