* New oil filter (VW part number 070115561B)
* Oil filter wrench
* 10mm wrench
* Oil drain pan
* Funnel
* New oil (5 quarts of 10W-40 motor oil)
1. Park the van on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down for a few minutes.
2. Locate the oil filter housing. The oil filter housing is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the top. It is a cylindrical-shaped housing with a black cap.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the oil filter housing. Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out.
4. Loosen the oil filter cap using the 10mm wrench. Turn the cap counterclockwise until it is loose.
5. Remove the oil filter cap and filter from the housing. Be careful not to spill any oil.
6. Inspect the old oil filter for damage or wear. If the filter is damaged, replace it with a new one.
7. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
8. Screw the new oil filter into the housing until it is snug. Do not overtighten the filter.
9. Replace the oil filter cap and tighten it until it is snug.
10. Add new oil to the engine using the funnel. Add 5 quarts of 10W-40 motor oil.
11. Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks from the oil filter housing.
