2. Locate the fuel pre-pump. The fuel pre-pump is located beneath the vehicle, near the fuel tank.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry open the locking tab and disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines. There are two fuel lines connected to the fuel pump: the inlet line and the outlet line. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the fuel line fittings and disconnect the lines.
5. Remove the fuel pump.
- Remove the two bolts holding the fuel pump into place.
- Lower the fuel pump until it hangs from the fuel lines.
- Remove the fuel pump and gasket from the fuel tank.
6. Inspect the fuel pump. Check the fuel pump for any signs of damage, such as cracks, leaks, or corrosion. If the fuel pump is damaged, it must be replaced.
7. Install the new fuel pre-pump.
- Insert the new fuel pre-pump into the fuel tank.
- Position the fuel pump and secure it with the bolts. Replace the fuel line fittings.
-Reconnect the electrical connector.
8. Test the fuel pre-pump. Turn on the ignition and listen for the fuel pump to run. The fuel pump should run for a few seconds and then turn off. If it’s not running, check the electrical connections.
9. Replace any of the parts you removed. Re-install any of the parts in the reverse order that you removed them.
10. Start the engine. Once you have reconnected all of the parts and confirmed there are no leaks, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will allow fuel to circulate through the system.
